Just Because You Spend a Lot of Money Does Not Mean Your Marketing Will Work

Author: Lance Winslow

It is amazing the amount of dollars that companies spend on marketing campaigns and even more interesting how few of them really work well. Just because you are spending lots of money does not mean your marketing will automatically be successful. I can certainly remember many of our companys competitors spend like the Dickens when we would come to their town and market.

We would see their advertising, expensive advertising all over the place. But they often spent their advertising and marketing dollars in correctly and wasted their efforts. We simply passed them by like there was no tomorrow. They would go on Cable TV, radio and in the newspaper for weeks on end, you would think it was getting close to election time and they were some schmuck running for office or something.

Still we creamed them and we did it spending so little in marketing dollars really, I cannot imagine how bad they must of felt as we crushed them into oblivion over and over again. Poor bastards, I actually remember feeling bad for one of them once for about 20-seconds and that ended.

Then I realized some marketing or advertising executive or consultant must have made their entire quarters commission on that one small company who just did not realize that just because you spend a lot of money does not mean your marketing will work. Consider all this in 2006.
